A Nutritionist Weighs in...

This plan offers some useful and constructive advice. Many may appreciate the online nature of the plan and the increased comfort of asking questions over e-mail. If you do not have consistent Internet access, this plan will be impossible.

The meal plan includes some decent suggestions for portion sizes and increased fruit and vegetable intake, but there are numerous processed foods (many with a lot of sugar) also recommended. The nutritional quality of Slim-Fast products isn't great; most of the junk food on the plan is found in these products. Some shakes contain over five teaspoons of sugar and also include various chemical sugar substitutes and preservatives. Bars are very small and are basically candy. Shakes are pretty unappetizing-you may get sick of them day after day. Lastly, the Slim-Fast foods are costly! You will have to spend almost $200 a month on shakes and bars when following this plan.

It may be difficult to Slim-Fast for the long term

This plan can be applied practically to most anyone's lifestyle-as long as you have Internet access and don't mind drinking a lot of sugar for breakfast. You have the freedom to participate as much or as little as you desire.

Logging in information may be a bit time-consuming, but having meal plans already entered and the nutrients calculated is a huge time saver and an easy way to keep track of food intake. If it's six weeks before a big event, you'll probably lose weight and stay motivated on this plan, but it's hard to imagine replacing your meals for a lifetime.
