This plan is ideal if you want to maintain weight, lose weight, or lose those few extra pounds gained over the holidays. Although the earlier grapefruit diets were very calorie restrictive, this plan is very basic and easy to follow. Just include grapefruit three times a day.

As long as you don't really have more than three servings of the actual fruit, there is nothing wrong with it. You may want to consider carefully before you decide to substitute supplements for whole fruit.

The healthy eating plan outlined on this diet is your basic low-fat, high-fiber diet with tons of fruits and vegetables. It suggests nothing dangerous or extreme for eating or exercise. Not too surprisingly, the creators of this diet grew up in the citrus industry and are trying to push eating their fruit. It's good to support American farmers.

Is The Grapefruit Solution practical?

If you don't like the taste of grapefruit or grapefruit juice, supplemental grapefruit pills are a viable alternative. You do need to remember to take your pills three times a day.

The plan does address the potentially dangerous interaction between grapefruit and certain medications. If you are taking cholesterol lowering drugs or antidepressants, you should consult a doctor before starting on this diet. Overall, adding a few grapefruit or a bit of grapefruit juice to every meal is not very difficult.
