1. Ask what something is made of before you put it in your mouth. Find out of dips are made with reduced fat, reduced sodium, or reduced sugar ingredients.
2. If you are making foods like dips, hot or cold, substitute lower fat versions of ingredients such as low fat sour cream, reduced fat or fat free re-fried beans, and 2% cheese in seven layer dip or artichoke dip.
3. When making dishes like chili use lean meat and sausage and ground chicken or turkey breast, or a combination. Use low fat sour cream and chopped green onions for toppings.
4. Drink one beer and then stick to water or diet soda.
5. If munchies are your weakness either avoid them altogether or limit yourself of to one handful of whatever your choice is, be it chips, pretzels, candy, or nuts.
6. Eat a small meal and drink a glass of water before you go to your Superbowl party. You will be less inclined to binge and eat mindlessly if you are satiated before you arrive at the festivities.
