A Nutritionist Weighs in...

The SELF Diet Club is an interactive way to eat what you want in moderation. You can add any food you would like into your diet, as long as you don't go over your calorie limit. The self calculating tool is very useful and helpful to those who want to count calories, but don't like to do the math. The diet computes reasonable calorie needs-and you will lose weight if you follow the correct portioning. If you like measuring your foods and have computer access, this plan may be right for you.

The computer does the counting, but you still need to eat healthily

Portion control can be an issue on this plan. Even with its support, you still need to eat the appropriately sized servings. Do you know what one cup of blueberries looks like or will you need to find your measuring cups in the back of the cupboard? Do you know what three ounces of fish looks like or will you need a scale to check? There are not many guidelines given on how to estimate portion sizes. When you're using the Food Log, you'll need to know how many ounces or cups of a food you consumed. If you guesstimate, your calorie count may be inaccurate.
