A Nutritionist Weighs in...
Apparently, you do not need fruit or whole grains, and "you could be perfectly healthy if you never had an ounce of carbohydrate in your entire life." Sure, and you could be perfectly miserable, too. While healthy fats are encouraged, the elimination of fruits and whole grains is unnecessary. The food choices are rather restrictive and require a lot of food preparation. Some of the recipes, however, are interesting. Additionally, the safety of taking so many nutritional supplements is questionable.
If you can survive on fats and have the money to invest in supplements, then you may like this diet.
This diet takes a lot of planning and may be hard to stick to.
If you like fats such as olive oil, nuts, and fish, then you may enjoy many of the foods encouraged on this diet. However, if you love fruit and grains, even whole grains, then you will likely fall off the bandwagon rather quickly. The food lists are restrictive and many of the foods on the "C list" would be difficult to eliminate from your diet completely.
There are also sample meal plans and recipes, which require a lot of preparation time and frequent trips to the grocery store, which may not be doable for many people.
The laundry list of supplements also requires money, time, and organization, since each pill may have to be taken more than once daily and requires specific instructions - such as taking it with a meal or on an empty stomach.
Overall, there is a lot of thinking and planning involved, which will cost the dieter time and money. The good news is that if you hate exercising, you aren't required to do very much. Exercising immediately after dinner could prove to be difficult.
