A Nutritionist Weighs in...

It is amazing that you can fast for ten days and yet show no signs of hunger, but this plan apparently feels this is possible. Depriving yourself of food and the needed vitamins and minerals to perform daily functions and activities is not the safest way to lose weight. Even if you can manage to do The Master Cleanse for at least ten days, it will be challenging to then adopt a raw food diet, especially when no information is provided on how to do this. If your goal is to lose weight and maintain the weight loss by learning how to eat real foods that are good for your body, than keep looking for a safer and more well-balanced plan.

Get rid of toxins and lose weight, but know where the nearest toilet is at all times

For most people, fasting for ten days is simply not practical. Imagine how many social events, meetings and holidays centered around food you would have to skip. You may find that you need to take time off from work and isolate yourself from friends and family, since you cannot eat even a morsel of food while following this plan. The constant need to prepare fresh lemonade does not make traveling easy, and neither does the constant need to use the restroom to eliminate the toxins, especially on that first day.

Diet Pros Diet Cons
  • Rapid weight loss - but safety is questionable
  • You can continue with your current exercise routine or not exercise at all
  • No additional supplements required
  • You cannot eat for at least 10 days
  • You must constantly prepare the fresh lemonade mixture
  • You must be near a bathroom at all times!
  • Unpleasant side effects such as food cravings, irritability, boredom, headaches, fatigue and burning bowel movements
  • Safety of rate of weight loss and suboptimal calories for a long period of time is questionable
