A Nutritionist Weighs in...

Most adolescents should focus less on dieting and more on learning healthy eating practices that they will continue throughout life. While going on a diet is not recommended for most healthy teens, it is always better to choose vegetables over candy. This plan focuses on healthy foods, exercise, and even encourages cooking - a skill every teenager should have. Many of the food recommendations could benefit the entire family. It is also nice to see a focus on teens getting in the kitchen and a focus on food safety - something not commonly addressed in other diet plans.

It's clear that Frank Gotti had some input from nutrition professionals with this plan, and he does credit a number of people who helped. However, since some of the exercise techniques are incorrect, he probably should have gotten more help there.

If you're a teenage boy, this one's for you

This diet is extremely practical - but only for a specific population of teenage boys. There are realistic recommendations and applications that a teenage boy may actually put into practice.

Diet Pros Diet Cons
  • Good and realistic advice
  • Simplified for teenagers
  • Promotes cooking and food safety
  • Promotes whole and healthy foods
  • Emphasis on exercise
  • No supplements needed
  • Family oriented
  • Only appealing to teenage boys
