The 3-Day Solution Plan
By following the 3-Day Solution Diet Plan, it claims that your appetite will fade, your energy will soar, and your body will let go of fat, rather than storing it. The Solution Plan provides you with the skills you need to curb your desire to overeat and to create a healthy lifestyle that satisfies you in ways food never could.
Our lives are filled with a great deal of stress, which in turn leads us to overeat. In order to lose weight and keep it off, the 3 Day Solution Diet Plan argues that we must stop dieting and look internally to find solutions to diminish the stresses that cause us to overeat.
The 1-2-3 Eating System provides lists of foods that are acceptable to eat and has pre-selected menus and recipes to follow. This plan realizes you may need an occasional indulgence - so treats are allowed, but you must then skip dinner and head to the gym to burn it off.
What makes the 3-Day Solution Diet Plan different?
The 3-Day Solution Diet Plan is a diet composed of 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbohydrate. It is different from other diets because it involves other components, such as taking time for yourself to unwind and relax ("restoring time"), and spending time with someone you care about ("intimacy time"). It also includes a 3-day plan, where you learn several skills that help you to increase your awareness about your feelings, and then find solutions to overcome the negative emotions that lead to overeating.
What is the 3-Day Solution Plan?
The 3 Day Solution Plan includes three phases:
1. The 3 day plan - You will spend three days detoxing and learning the basics of "The Method" and three skills: checking in, emotional housecleaning, and doing cycles.
2. The plan for days four to fourteen - You will complete two weeks of "The Method," enhance the benefits of the first three days, and have more flexibility with food.
3. The plan for day fifteen and beyond - You will continue using "The Method" on your own or become more involved in "Solution Training." There are no menus or recipes to follow, since you should be a pro at 1-2-3 eating by now!
Typical Day 1 - Detox: You will engage in a meaningful pursuit (i.e. work) for six to eight hours, restore yourself for an hour (an activity like taking a hot bath), exercise for an hour in nature (like riding a bike), and have intimacy time for an hour (an activity like having coffee with a friend). A sample meal, on the 3 Day Solution Plan, includes light eggs and strawberries for breakfast, apricots for a snack, California chicken salad for lunch, one small apple and five almonds for a snack, and flank steak with green beans for dinner.
Typical Day 2 - Connection: In addition to the day one activities, your intimacy time should focus on an especially intimate activity such as giving your partner a foot massage. A sample meal plan, on the 3 Day Solution Plan, includes a cheese, tomato and basil omelet for breakfast, baby carrots for a snack, steak and salad for lunch, cottage cheese for a snack, and grilled salmon with mango avocado salsa for dinner.
Typical Day 3 - Vibrancy: In addition to the day one activities, your exercise time should include a playful activity, such as tennis or soccer. A sample meal plan, on the 3 Day Solution Plan, includes cereal for breakfast, a grapefruit for a snack, a shrimp salad platter for lunch, veggies and dip for a snack, and pasta Bolognese for dinner.
Golden Rules of 1-2-3 Eating:
- To plan a meal, choose at least one food from the fiber group, one from the healthy fats group, and one from the protein group.
- Enjoy a Self-Acceptance treat of about 350 calories, such as a large 3 Musketeers candy bar or a large scoop of ice cream on a sugar cone. The only catch is that you should then skip dinner and go to the gym after the treat.
- Eat regularly throughout the day, but only eat when you are hungry.
- While on the 3 Day Solution Plan, you are more important than your food, so if you really need "white stuff" (food on the "can't eat" list), have it and enjoy it.
- During the first three days, turn off your cell phone and leave an outgoing message on your voicemail that states you will not be returning any phone calls for the next three days.
While you can choose to stop the plan after three days, your appetite will only increase and you will most likely regain all of the weight you have lost so far - some choice!
What are the weight loss expectations?
The 3 Day Solution Plan predicts you could lose up to six pounds in the first three days. After this, you should expect to lose one pound per week, if you follow the recommendation of 1,200 to 1,400 calories per day.
Is exercise promoted?
While on the 3 Day Solution Plan, exercise is required for one hour a day, split into two periods: one period in the morning, where you will stretch, and another period at any time of day, which will include doing something that you love, such as taking a walk with a friend or throwing a dance party in your living room. On day one, you should combine exercise with either being out in nature or listening to music. On day two, you should choose an activity that brings you closer to yourself, such as taking a horse-back riding lesson. On day three, you should do something playful, such as playing basketball.
Are supplements recommended?
The 3 Day Solution Plan recommends taking one multivitamin/mineral supplement daily, in addition to calcium and omega-3 fatty acids.
